I Towed my BMW this shop to have a vehicle inspection done and they told me $199 for full inspection, but instead they went ahead and did two unauthorized diagnostics on their own and charge me $340. I’m not pleased with their service it’s a rip off.
Bashir, you were quoted $199 for a full inspection, however our technician could not perform the full inspection since the car would not start. You were not charged the $199 for the inspection. You approved the diagnostic charges over the phone when we explained that we would first need to perform diagnosis to find out why the car wouldn't start and then once the car was running, why the car was overheating. When you came to pick up the vehicle, our advisor again explained the charges and the results of the diagnostic testing. You said that you understood and paid your bill. Diagnosing an issue can be time consuming and requires very expensive equipment, as well as trained technicians. It is a common practice in the United States automotive industry to charge for diagnosis.
